It’s not all bad.

Having aa neurodivergent kid isn’t all meltdowns and tears. There are some phenomenal moments and all the love and hugs that anyone could wish for. These kids have a very unique way of seeing the world and interacting with it, and it is refreshing when you see what they see.

C is very pragmatic, practical and literal with everything, but he doesn’t miss a thing. He notices things that the average person won’t, he is amazingly detailed and has the ability to break something down into it’s working parts like no kid I’ve ever seen.

He hhas an incredibly technical way of thinking, he builds Lego creations way beyond his age, and won a local Lego building competition when he was 4 years old!

We know exactly what he loves and we do our best to foster those interests. We chose his school specifically for his temperament and he enjoys the smaller classes and holistic approach to teaching and the growth mindset ethos there. Also because the school is openly Christian which fits in with our home values.

The school offers an array of extra murals and one of those is Young Engineers. It’s an outside program hosting at the school and C loves it.

They learn basic engineering concepts and build Lego replications to test the theories and it’s super technical and he’s learning so much that he absolutely enjoys.

Here’s a video of his latest creation.

So eembrace their unique outlook on life.

X Kim.
